SGG is honored to present a solo show of Denny Griffith’s work that includes paintings from both his Soliloquy and Under the Microscope series. The combination of both larger and smaller pieces creates a conversation not only between the paintings themselves but with the viewer as well. Denny began the Under the Microscope series in response to his father’s cancer diagnosis, a contemplation of color and form with the encaustic texture adding an element of fragility to each piece. Years later, he continued to explore similar shapes and forms but in a larger, quieter format, the shapes softer. “Soliloquy” refers to speaking to oneself - but in each of these paintings, Denny has provided a gift to the viewer: an invitation into conversation, something that can only be accomplished when there is, in fact, an audience.
